[INFO] The Birth of the Third Generation Idols.

SHINee vs 2AM vs 2PM

The music industry is still blooming with the idol craze. In 2009 there will also be new groups debuting. '21' who has been coined as the female Big Bang, has recently topped the search sites after debuting with their song 'Lolipop', creating a lot of attention even before their official debut appearance. Especially for first generation idols, H.O.T and Shinhwa, and second generation idols, Dong Bang Shin Ki and SS501, the third generation idols have been receiving a lot of attention.

The representative of the third generation idols is definitely SHINee. Coming from Korea's representative idol company, they are a group that was put together after much effort, and will be able to sing if required to sing, dance if required to dance, and with heights that are also perfectly matched, they have solidly captured the eyes of noonas. Formed by a group of teenage boys and debuting with the song, 'Noona you are so pretty', they are the successors to the representative song for noonas ever since Lee Seungki's 'Noona is my woman'.

2AM who has undergone years of training and has debuted with 'This Song' last year, has since released their new album recently, causing much interest in their image transformation to that of manly. Their soulful singing as well as refreshing dancing on stage has also captured much attention.

As JYP's pride, 2PM debuted with a style that is distinctly different from that of 2AM. Be it jumps or tumblings and other spectacular displays on stage, or the joint performance of Jaebum and Nick Khun who are both not very proficient in Korean but yet was able to receive top ratings for their TV apperance, 2PM's rising popularity trend is unstoppable.

The special point about these 3 groups is that they brought about a kind of trend that is like no other before. Members of idol groups from the first and second generation whos have used their personalities and their music to attract the hearts of those in their teens now have to contend with the coming of the era of contemporary groups. Colourful skinnies, high tops sneakers, jackets and other such trendy necessities have been used to bring out the personalities and vibrance of the groups.

This is especially seen for SHINee who has worked together with their stylist Ha Saeng Baek to create the 'Bling Bling' image that is specially for SHINee. 2PM not only has a different type of performance outfits, their unique style of casual clothes has earned them the title of 'colourful bullets' and amongst the fans they are also known as the 'stars of trend'.

Idols came from the formation of groups with a new concept and hence leading the the first generation of idols, the second generation arose with the development of the internet and their immensely growing popularity along with strong singing and dancing abilities. This brings us to the third generation, where possessing true prowess is a must, and also the ability to lead any type of trends, in that way, the third generation of idols will be able to be the influencing role model of the group of teenagers fans.

At this stage, Korean idols are still evolving, and even in this declining music industry, there is still a place for them to continue attracting people.
